MAKING NEW FRIENDS

If you are new in our country, in this city, in this school, then it must be very hard for you. You must be feeling very lonely but you shouldn’t be. People who want to help are all-around.

New activities

The best way to meet people is to start doing some new activities.

Sport

For example, if you are good at sports you can choose some, of many different sports, which are available for training in our town. Here you can find football pitches, basketball courts, large swimming pool and many others. They are all waiting for you. Sport is great because it will help you to live healthy.

Art

If you are not keen on sports you can try one's hand at culture . Artists have many possibilities for work in our school. Dancing, music, painting, photography, writing section, exists here. I would specially like to mention a painting studio Luvr. I was a member and I can tell that it was great experience.

Science&Fun

The young researcher’s society, Vladimir Mandic Manda, is place where you can both learn and have fun. If you are interested in astronomy, speleology, biology there you can learn a lot of new things and (to) do your own research projects. But, this society is also very popular because of their work trips which are always interesting and funny.

We heard a scream of one of our friends but it supposed that it was just a frog.A few seconds after, we got relieved. We soon realized that it even wasn’t a frog; it was just a stone which looked like it. Later, the atmosphere was much better, the sun was rising and we were laughing. We stopped in front of the monastery and went down near the river. It was very cold and we could see a lot of camping fires which were still burning. One girl went to one small forest . Just a few seconds after she left, she got back. And she screamed. One drunk guy thought it was interesting to put a blizzard next to her neck.We went more down and set down to eat our breakfast. When it became warm and sunny we decided to give ourselves a little more time , so we went to visit one wonderful place by river but on the hill.We again passed through another thick but much smaller forest and we were on streak. We had to pass through the tunnel. We put our ears next to rails the and listened. There was no sign of a train. We were brave, so we went into it. After 20 meters we heard a sound of the train. Punting Troubles

It is rather strange and funny how silly things always happen to those who try hard to avoid them. Obviously standing aside and trying to be an observer is not a good and recommendable tactic; well, at least in some situations. However, additional experience, no matter how strange it was, is always a precious one as it teaches you a valuable lesson. And, I would certainly remember the following one to the rest of my life.
It all happened in 2001, in July, during my stay in Cambridge. Even though every moment I spent there was precious, the thing that happened to me on one Wednesday affected me the most.
My friends and I went punting on the River Cam. The punting station was crowded with students from all over the world. We were all waiting for a guide who was supposed to announce the beginning of the adventure, and divide us into small groups.
Very soon I found myself in a group of five strangers, what made me feel a bit confused and uncomfortable. As these people were very kind and friendly my bad mood did not last long.
We got into the boat, but soon discovered that we were on our own, without any help of a professional rower. So here we were at the beginning of our nightmare. While other teams were sailing down the river, we were trying to move the boat from the starting position and to calm it. Not only did we worsen the situation by rotating the boat and going from one bank to another, but we became the object of ridiculing of those who were observing what was happening.
Finally, we decided not to torture ourselves anymore. We stopped, got out of the boat, sat on the grass and started joking. But not for long, as others were coming back to the start, so we had to move the boat once again. This time I took the command over a boat. Never had I felt such fear, as in that moment.
We managed somehow. Although we were only thirty meters away from the punting station we got there last. The crew was so happy to feel the ground under their feet again, and they all praised me to be an excellent captain.

You can imagine how much this adventure helped me feeling great self-confidence. It is certainly worth all those troubles.

So if you really care for wildlife and are keen on helping, you should definitely “adopt” a whale. Adopt a whale is a kind of charity organization which collects money for protection and survival of whales
With a small amount of 17.50$ you can help a lot. Besides the Whale Adoption Certificate you get a free video of your whale, a colors wall poster, a brochure and “ I luv my whale “ sticker. Also you will receive a black and white photo and the whole biography of your whale.
What is very important to say is that all the donations are charity registered, so you know your money will go to who intended it to go. This is a great a opportunity for young and all people alike to help these beautiful animals and also have a great time.

Save the Planet – Adopt a Whale

It seems as though people are becoming more and more concerned about environment, and interested in so-called “green issues”. Proofs for this are various initiatives and actions led by a great number of non-governmental organizations, which are aimed to contribute to the better life quality.
Some of these initiatives are incredibly interesting, inventive, and a bit odd.
On this occasion we would like to present to you the “Adopt a Whale” scheme, which certainly sounds peculiar at first, but also very interesting and authentic. The scheme is claimed to be aimed to both young and old, but it will most certainly attract kids.
The “adoption” costs £17.50 and includes: free video, related brochures, posters, whale biography, and a sticker. Feature that is especially interesting in this scheme is the fact that each whale has its name, and that all of them are listed in the “Whale Adoption List” with necessary details included.
The organizers guarantee that all money collected is going to be directly spent on whale protection.

The fact that these lovely creatures need love and care is more than obvious. However, not much is being done to improve the conditions they live in, so it is high time for action. Let’s just hope that the initiatives like this one will help raise the awareness of young and old alike.

Many thanks for your suggestion. However, I don’t share your opinion that this would be a prefect present for Peter. It is unique, but still I think it is more suitable for kids than for adults. It also seems to me as he isn’t particularly keen on wild animals. Furthermore, we don’t know whether he has a video or not, as there is a free video kit sent to each applicant.
I would, therefore, suggest some other alternative such as a rubber toys and some stuff for his pet. However, I plan to write about this “Adopt a Whale” scheme in the “Green Issues”.
Do think over my proposal and inform me of your opinion ASAP.

STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT

The sound of the train…Four teenagers in the tunnel…Just a few seconds are
left…
You’ll have to take a bit of patience to read the rest of the story. It all started in early hours on 1st of May. Three girls and one boy had gone on traditional morning hiking. One of these girls was me. We decided to go to the monastery Cells and then go down to the river Gradac. On our way to monastery was a big forest.
The trees were spread widely apart and they were tall but it was dark because it was 3 o’clock AM. We could hear the twitter of owls and rustling of small animals and bugs. We were scared. We heard a scream of one of our friends and when we heard that it was just a frog, we got relieved. We soon realized that it even wasn’t a frog; it was just a stone which looked like it. Later, the atmosphere was much better, the sun was rising and we were laughing. We passed next to the monastery and went down to river. It was very cold and there was a lot of camping fires which were still burning. One girl went to one small forest because she needed a bathroom. Just a few seconds after she left, she came back. And she was screaming. One drunk guy thought it was interesting to put her a blizzard next to her neck.
We went more down and set down to eat our breakfast. When it became warm and sunny we decide to give us a bit more of enjoyment in nature so we wanted to visit one wonderful place by river but upper.
We again passed through another thick but much smaller forest and we were on streak. We had to pass through the tunnel. We had put our ears next to rails the and listened. There was no sign of a train. We were brave so we went into it. After 20 meters we had heard a sound of the train. We run out and stocked next to the stone wall. It was so fast that we hardly stood on our legs.
We survived and we went straight back home by regular track. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to tell you this story.

My project is about putting trash cans all over the town so that it wil be clean and whats more healtier.
Second part of project is about putting bigger trash cans next to the ones in which they are already trowing garbage from their homes. They are not ordinary, they will be used for recycling. First will be for paper, second for glass, third for metal, and they will be put in a big districts.
The organisation for putting these bins will not cost a thing because I approched Vidrak, firm which takes garbage to the garbage dump and which takes care of green in this town, and they said that they will do it without charcing. I will also make a presentation about recycling where I can inform how properly to use this trashcans. By getting this prize I could clean the town, the job would be easier for garbage dump and also, we could earn some money from recycling, which we could use to buy more trash cans and give it to other towns.

Report on the International Day

Introduction

The aim of this report is to provide information on the first International day held on 17th of February.
The findings outlined in this report are results of a survey that was conducted among students who attended the event.

In general

It is generally thought that the event was rather informative and interesting, and certainly worth organizing again. However, according to students that were questioned the event was a bit overambitious if we take into account that it was the first of a kind.

Positive points

The aspects of the event that were rated as very good are the food provided, and the fun people had while dancing and listening to a various sorts of music.

Negative points

In spite of generally positive attitudes there were some problems, which were mainly caused by poor planning and inadequate organization. In addition to this, tasks were not equally distributed, there was not any program that would indicate the sequence of events involved, some technical problems arose, there was not enough dancing space, and the music provided was not diverse enough.

Recommendations

If problems mentioned above are meant to be overcome Planning Committee should be established at least one month in advance. The work of this body would result in better planning and organization, and would certainly lead to a clear and well defined program. The technical problems could be solved via training programs, and all equipment should be checked to make sure that it will not fail during presentation.
However, there are some things in which college could be of great help. These refer to a formation of a CD collection, and the help with the food and beverages.

Conclusion

To round up a story. Good planning, adequate organization, measures of precocious, and college assistance are factors which could guarantee success in the future organization of the
event.

So you came to Vagym and you don’t exactly know how to make some new friends? Read the pieces of information below and find out.

PEOPLE & PLACES

The first thing which you need to know is that 90% of students here are very communicative and friendly and you will easily get in touch with them. For that purpose, I am suggesting the thing below:

1.CLUBS:
Join some of the school clubs! In Vagym, you can join a debating club if you would like to try your abilities as a talker or if you would like to how to do it, drama club which you could join if you are a good actor, music club for singers and musicians… We also have science clubs for math, physics, English, etc. In addition to this, there is a Young Researchers club, which consists of three groups: astronomy, speleological, biology and the membership is very cheap. There are meetings once a week when you are learning interesting stuff about these sciences and go to some excursions where you’ll be able to study stars, plants, …

2.VOLUNTARY WORK:

If you think that you are able to draw something nice on our wall in school club or you want to be a DJ or a barman in school café, apply for it! You’ll be able to meet a lot of people and make some nice chats and the friendships will come!

EVENTS

If you want to go out and spend a nice weekend, try next cafes: “Bagdad”, Cosmo”, “34”. Those are the cafes where most of our students go out at weekend nights. As concerning the further events, I suggest “Van Gogh” concert which is going o be held newt Friday in “Factory” and the performance in theatre which Vagym prepared for new international students-YOU. Visit those places and you’ll surprise how much new friends you’ll make.

Notes:The code of politically correct speech has come down against the word pet, which at first blush seems about as inoffensive a term as there is in the language. It has referred to a domesticated or tamed animal since the 16th century, and has even branched out to mean a favorite person, or one who is treated with special kindness. What's wrong with that? Plenty, say the animal-rights activists. Pet implies the human ownership of an animal, and that just won't do. The preferred term now is companion animal (1977).
The term furkid, of course, takes us beyond the treatment of the animal as a mere companion and into the realm of surrogate kid-hood. Now we animal guardians (1997) can apply our hyper-parenting skills to our dogs, cats, and other four-legged members of the family.
That some of us are doing this is further evidenced by the fact that a number of synonyms for furkid exist, including furbaby (1993; also: fur baby) and furchild (2000; also: fur child).

The name originated with a user named ajack on esato.com. Jack was in a bank, searching for other BT enabled devices. When he found a Nokia 7650, he sent the owner a message saying "Buy Ericsson". He called it bluejacking, and it stuck ever since.
Mobile phone buffs have been bluejacking for months but it now looks set to become much more widespread.
